Frozen Bubbles beneath a Mountain Lake
Published · Updated
Frozen bubbles appear in pale stacks beneath the clear surface of a mountain lake. The low viewpoint brings the turquoise lake ice close enough to reveal fine scratches, branching fractures and layers of trapped discs at different depths. Larger bubble clusters fill the foreground, while smaller ones recede toward the far shore.
Snowy mountain peaks rise above dark forested slopes and catch the first pink light of morning. Their warmer reflections stretch across smoother ice in the middle distance. A broad diagonal fracture links the detailed foreground to the mountain range, giving the vertical scene a clear sense of scale. The empty winter landscape combines strong color with the delicate marks suspended inside the frozen surface.
