Gingerbread play cottage lights the snowy yard
Published · Updated
The gingerbread play cottage lights a snowy garden with warm windows and a partly open red door. Its brown walls carry uneven white icing lines, while thick cream trim follows the steep roof and porch. Candy cane columns turn in red and white spirals on either side of the entrance, making a familiar little building feel like a holiday sweet shop.
Round peppermint panels sit high on the gables. Smaller red, green, yellow and orange ornaments follow the roof edges beneath a layer of fresh snow. The decoration has a solid, built quality: boards, window frames, porch supports and a low stone foundation remain visible beneath the playful surfaces.
A cleared stone path curves toward the doorway between deep snowbanks and small evergreen shrubs. Bare branches and a larger shingled house behind the cottage establish the scale of the yard. Blue evening light fills the open sky and shadows, while gold light touches the steps and window boxes. The empty scene leaves room to enjoy the careful seasonal details and the quiet approach to the little porch.
