Snow-Capped Birdhouses in a Winter Garden
Published · Updated
Woodland birdhouses wear thick snow caps above a quiet clearing. The narrow wooden fronts are painted green, red and dusty blue, with natural brown houses at different heights behind and beside them. Small round entrance holes and simple landing ledges break the rough grain of each front.
Steep roofs hold uneven layers of fresh snow, and the posts remain firmly set among the white ground and low shrubs. Bare twigs, dark evergreen branches and a few copper leaves fill the woodland around them. Soft morning light reveals worn paint and small ridges in the snow, giving each house its own shape within the sheltered winter garden.
