Glass fishing floats in green and amber lie in rope nets on wet pebbles beside kelp and a thin edge of sea foam.

Glass fishing floats rest at the wrack line

Published · Updated

Glass fishing floats rest in a loose diagonal at the wrack line, their rounded surfaces bright against wet pebbles. The largest sphere is bottle green, the middle one warm amber and the smallest pale seafoam. Each has its own weathered rope net. Knots cross the uneven glass at irregular intervals, and slack lengths of rope settle naturally between stones.

Brown kelp curls through the foreground with glossy folded edges. A thin wash of foam reaches the back of the arrangement, while small waves catch the low light farther out. Bubbles, scratches and variations in the glass make the floats feel old and handled. The amber sphere gathers the warmest color, sending a faint glow into the darker surfaces beside it.

The coastal still life includes enough open water and distant granite shoreline to place the objects within a larger landscape. Spruce trees rise above the rocks, and broken cloud softens the sky. Solid glass and stone balance the moving edge of the water, keeping the scene calm without making it static.
