The Guitar Pool in the Quiet Courtyard

Published · Updated

A swimming pool takes the clear outline of an acoustic guitar in the centre of a quiet courtyard. Its broad rounded body narrows at the waist, then stretches into a long straight neck ending in a small headstock shape. Pale limestone coping follows every curve, setting the turquoise water against warm terracotta paving.

Dark blue mosaic lines run along the pool floor like strings, crossing a large circular sound-hole motif in the body. Gentle ripples bend their reflections without hiding the pattern. Shallow curved steps occupy one side of the basin, where the tiles are visible through the clear water. The upper-terrace viewpoint reveals the complete shape in a single glance.

Rose-coloured stucco walls and shaded arches enclose the space. Two citrus trees stand in large clay pots near the far end, while simple timber loungers sit along the left wall. Late sunlight draws leafy shadows over the paving and softens the worn plaster. With the courtyard empty, the familiar instrument shape becomes an unexpected piece of outdoor design.
