The Courtyard of Carved Plaster and Tile
Published · Updated
An octagonal tiled pool fills the center of a lush courtyard. Its green and ivory patterns continue across the floor and along raised planters, surrounding a pale stone fountain on a carved pedestal. A small jet rises from the bowl and falls into rippling water. Sunlight breaks through the leaves overhead, making bright moving patches across the tiles and the surface of the pool.
Behind the fountain, an elaborate pointed doorway is framed by fine cream plaster relief and dark carved timber. The open doors reveal another planted court, extending the view beyond the richly decorated wall. Broad banana leaves rise on the left, while citrus fruit and glossy foliage hang above the right side. The planting softens the geometry without obscuring its detail. This photograph suits courtyard inspiration, tile pattern collections and ideas for combining water with dense greenery. Its texture comes from the meeting of carved stone, glazed ceramic and living leaves. Free reuse includes commercial projects, and a copy-ready credit link is available here.
