Harlequin Musical Saw at the Riverside Fair
Published · Updated
A harlequin musical saw player sits on a small wooden stool beside the river. His diamond patterned costume opens into a broad ivory ruff, with rust and indigo fabric continuing down the sleeves and trousers. One hand holds the tip grip of the curved steel blade while the other draws a bow across it.
Oversized orange mushroom props rise behind him, their painted spots and rough paper surfaces catching the autumn light. A garland of leaves, a lantern and plain timber stalls build a small setting for the riverside fair music. The view continues past the player toward water and a low arched bridge, leaving room for both the elaborate costume and the everyday surroundings.
