A horseshoe pitch crosses the sea breeze
Published · Updated
A horseshoe pitch hangs for a moment between an open hand and the sandy horseshoe pit. The thrower steps forward in a striped rugby shirt, keeping a spare iron shoe in his other hand. His friend smiles from behind the throwing position, safely clear of the flight. The low viewpoint makes the curved metal shape and upright target easy to follow.
The dune campsite opens onto blue water and scattered coastal grass, with late light warming the rust-colored trousers and timber pit border. There is little equipment beyond the stake, shoes and a patch of level ground. That simplicity lets the photograph concentrate on the easy companionship of two adult friends and the brief anticipation before the iron lands.
