Ice bells hang above the rippled shoreline
Published · Updated
Ice bells cling to the lower lengths of reed stems along a winter shoreline. Their clear forms widen toward the water, making small flared skirts around the golden stalks. The nearest bell carries tiny trapped bubbles and rough white flecks near its base. Other collars sit farther back at different heights, creating a loose rhythm beside the snowy bank.
Dark water ripples underneath the ice. Reflections of the reeds bend into narrow wavering lines, while patches of pale sky brighten the troughs between waves. The clear edges catch a low winter light and reveal subtle ridges within the frozen surfaces. Some stems lean across the frame, contrasting with the straighter reeds closest to the camera.
A soft shelf of snow follows the left edge of the pond and recedes toward the far trees. Small uneven ice fragments meet the open water at its base. Across the pond, a dark wooded shore sits beneath a pale clouded sky. The low viewpoint keeps the little ice forms prominent while preserving the larger setting of water, bank and winter woodland around them.
