A fox clears the snowbank
Published · Updated
A fox clears the snowbank in a low, stretched leap between snow-coated pines. Its front paws reach into the open space ahead while its dark hind legs and broad tail trail behind. Loose powder scatters from the bank, marking the brief movement against a woodland that otherwise looks still. The russet coat carries small bright flecks of snow, and the fox's pointed ears and focused face remain clear.
Tall trunks make the small animal's surroundings feel expansive. Rough bark fills the near left edge, while more distant pines soften into a blue-gray winter woodland. Their branches hold uneven shelves of snow rather than a uniform covering. The foreground bank slopes toward the fox's landing area, with low plants showing through along the edge.
Cool daylight brings out the texture of the snow and the warmer tones in the fur without flattening either. At the right, the dark base of a nearby pine anchors the white foreground. The fox's horizontal movement briefly cuts across the long vertical rhythm of the trees.
