An Organ Pipe Workshop Prepares the Next Piece
Published · Updated
An organ pipe workshop holds rows of instrument parts at every height. A maker carries a silver metal pipe horizontally between the wooden storage racks, supporting it at two separate points as he approaches an open space. Its long cylinder, small mouth and tapered end distinguish it from the upright pieces behind him.
The racks combine bright round tubes with a few red rectangular wooden pipes, making their different materials easy to compare. A blue checked shirt and leather work apron place the maker comfortably within the practical timber room. Soft winter daylight reveals seams in the metal, folds in the leather and worn floorboards below. The wider view follows both the movement of one component and the orderly collection around it.
