Accordion Reed Repair on a Felt Work Mat

Published · Updated

Accordion reed repair fills this close view with small working parts and careful hand movements. A wooden reed block rests diagonally across dark navy felt while one hand steadies its edge. The other uses a flat wooden tool beside the leather valves, with the narrow slots and retaining screws of the silver reed plates visible along the row.

A second set of loose plates lies below, and a red accordion with ivory keys and black bellows occupies the upper background. Side light reveals the grain of the honey-colored wood and fine creases in the hands. The tight framing gives the individual components space to read without losing the larger instrument that surrounds the work.
