Outdoor escalators zigzag across a steep hillside between small colorful homes. Silver side panels, ribbed steps and dark handrails create a continuous sequence through broad concrete landings. The nearest flight cuts across the lower view, while the next sections lead farther into the tightly layered neighborhood.

Ochre, coral, turquoise and lavender walls rise beside corrugated roofs and pots of flowers. After-rain light catches the brushed steel and wet paving, separating the moving routes from the surrounding buildings. Beyond the slope, a hazy city fills the valley, giving the compact engineering a much larger setting and showing how the repeated flights connect different levels of the hill.
