Paper lantern pool beneath a pink paper canopy
Published · Updated
A paper lantern pool turns a drained swimming pool into an elaborate installation. Pink, coral and ivory spheres hang at different heights above the tiled basin, with long tissue fringes suggesting jellyfish. Their visible ribs, seams and suspension wires keep the floating effect connected to ordinary handmade materials.
A paper canopy spreads beneath the steel roof, while ladders and lane markings preserve the building's original character. Daylight from tall windows moves across pale turquoise tiles and the dry pool floor. The diagonal view includes the deep end and surrounding deck, leaving enough empty space to understand the scale. Quiet light and repeated paper forms give the room a feeling of anticipation before visitors arrive.
