Paper poppies rise above the petal parade

Published · Updated

Paper poppies rise far above three friends walking along a stone viaduct. Their enormous red and peach heads overlap against the sky, with creases, curled edges and dark centers clearly visible. Long green stems stand in substantial planted pots, and fine support wires hold the tallest flowers in place. The installation follows the curve of the bridge into the distance.

In the foreground, a woman in a yellow floral dress lets peach petals fall from her open hand. She smiles toward the man beside her, whose plum jacket picks up the warmer shadows in the stone. A friend in teal follows with a small paper fan. Their attention moves between one another and the drifting pieces, keeping the celebration relaxed and personal.

Beyond the parapet, a river winds through a wooded valley below pale buildings and distant hills. Sunlight passes through the thin flower petals while drawing longer shadows across the path. The repeated arches and towering stems give the scene its scale; the ordinary walking steps and shared laughter bring that scale back to a human moment.
