Paper Wolf Masks in the Halloween Kitchen
Published · Updated
Tall ears and long pointed muzzles rise from a pine table covered with torn paper. These handmade wolf masks give the kitchen its Halloween character, with uneven layers, charcoal noses and pale patches that catch the light. Bowls of paste, small scissors and loose strips remain between them. The masks occupy the foreground, while a second table at the far end of the room holds a quieter family moment beneath the dark window.
A girl sits in her cream cardigan and red pinafore as an older woman lifts a small strip near her cheek. Two brothers wait beside them in finished wolf masks. Their distant figures sit within a much larger arrangement of familiar materials: terracotta floor tiles, black range doors, pine cupboards and rough ceiling beams. Pumpkins fill the dresser on the right, and braids of onions hang beside the green tiled cooking recess. Warm lamps and a faint fire glow reveal the texture of paper and timber, making the whole room feel settled for an autumn evening.
