Pleated Paper Lamps Glow Above the Ferry Deck
Published · Updated
Pleated paper lamps turn an empty ferry deck into a quietly spectacular cafe setting. Large ivory, pale mint and apricot shades hang from visible cords beneath the painted steel roof. Their deep accordion folds create narrow bands of light and shadow, with crisp zigzag edges around the lower openings. The repeated forms lead down the length of the deck.
Below them, small round tables and striped folding chairs leave generous space for the view. Plain cups sit on the nearest table, and a heavy rope coils around a mooring post. Teal ferry railings frame calm harbor water beneath a soft dawn sky. Warm reflections spread across the dark timber boards, connecting the temporary paper decoration to the solid maritime structure around it.
