Purple oxalis spills over the courtyard trough
Published · Updated
Purple oxalis spills over the rim of a long stone trough in a sheltered courtyard. Its triangular leaves form dense plum-colored layers on slender stems, with pale flowers rising between them. Two clumps of striped grasses arch outward in lime and cream, breaking up the darker mass of foliage.
Broad silver-green leaves with dark branching veins sit near the trough's ends and add another distinct texture. Morning sunlight falls across the weathered stone and warm brick wall behind, leaving small leaf shadows on the paving. The oblique view follows the planted container along the narrow courtyard, with its rough rim, grounded feet and trailing stems clearly visible against the simple garden surfaces.
