Quarry Pond below Terraced Cliffs
Published · Updated
A quarry pond rests below terraced limestone cliffs, its jade water reflecting the cut rock and scattered trees. The old working faces rise in broad steps, catching warm light near their tops while the lower basin stays cool. A small wooden landing on the far shore gives the scale of the cliffs a useful point of comparison.
Dry grass and rough stone fill the near ledge, and a narrow path follows the slope at the right. The meeting of geometric excavation lines and returning vegetation gives the place its character. With no activity on the water, the quarry becomes a sheltered landscape of color, height and quiet reflections.
