Red flowers and green stems cover ivory cloth as hands use a printing block and hold the long fabric edge in place.

Red Flowers Beneath the Printing Block

Published · Updated

Red flowers repeat beneath the printing block in four long rows across the ivory cloth. Green stems and smaller blossoms connect the large rosettes, with slight changes in the impressions giving the pattern a handmade rhythm. At one end, a craft worker presses the wooden block while the other hand keeps the fabric flat.

A second pair of hands steadies the opposite edge farther along the table. The overhead view makes their separate roles visible without interrupting the sweep of the floral design. A crimson ink tray, a spare carved block and a folded cloth sit against the dark work surface. Narrow strips of terracotta flooring frame the scene and reinforce its warm, tactile palette.
