Rolling footbridge rises above the canal
Published · Updated
A rolling footbridge raises its hinged deck in a broad arc above a narrow canal. Ochre steel frames, mesh railings and timber undersides remain visible from the opposite bank. The repeated sections turn a practical crossing into the most unusual shape among the surrounding brick buildings.
Large pivots and visible cylinders connect the raised structure to its quayside base. Canal reflections repeat the warm metal colour in broken lines, while a moored narrowboat supplies scale below. Trailing plants, stone steps and wet cobbles keep the setting recognisably urban. The photograph concentrates on this suspended moment in the bridge's shape, without claiming a particular operating speed or engineering capacity.
