Round Door Cushion Needs a Clever Turn
Published · Updated
A round door cushion has become a small family puzzle at the entrance to a timber retreat. The large rust-colored pad stands almost upright while a father and two children work out how to turn it through the opening. A blanket nook waits beside the window, giving their shared effort a clear destination. The girl looks toward her father as he steadies the near side.
Her blue gingham dress has short sleeves and a broad white collar with floral embroidery. The younger boy crouches at the cushion's lower edge in a cream and teal shirt, dark shorts and ordinary sneakers. His father kneels inside the doorway with both hands on the soft surface. Their different positions make the turning movement easy to follow.
Heavy curved ribs support the warm plank ceiling, and a circular rooflight reveals leafy branches overhead. Woven baskets and little shelves follow the rounded walls. Sunlight crosses the stone threshold and the broad natural-fiber rug, while the meadow remains visible outside. The padded window seat, draped blanket and smaller cushions suggest a comfortable hideaway taking shape around a familiar family joke.
