Snow dragon curls through the quiet front yard
Published · Updated
A snow dragon curls through a front yard between a picket fence and a cleared path. Its raised head has thick horns, shallow eye recesses and a broad friendly muzzle. Carved scales cover the neck and rounded body, while a line of chunky fins continues toward the upturned tail. The connected form rests firmly in the snow.
Small ground lights cast a warm glow across the sculpture. Their low angle reveals the rough packed surface, uneven edges and shallow cuts that give each scale its shape. Loose snow gathers around the base. The warm patches fade into cool blue shadows, keeping the white figure readable against the surrounding winter lawn.
Ordinary houses stand behind the fence with soft yellow windows beneath snowy roofs. Bare branches spread across the darkening sky, and a wet walkway catches another narrow reflection in the foreground. These familiar details provide scale for the ambitious decoration. The photograph shows how a large handmade figure can become the center of a quiet neighborhood evening without losing the texture of its simple material.
