A Stilt Violinist Above the Night Market
Published · Updated
A stilt violinist towers above the stalls of a small night market, her cascading plum tulle gown almost filling the space between the awnings. Two slender black stilts remain visible below the hem, explaining the unusual height. She holds the violin beneath her chin and draws the bow across its strings, while small fabric wings rise behind her braided hair.
Pumpkin lanterns and warm bulbs illuminate the stone courtyard, and two stallkeepers look toward the performance from either side. Layered pink and purple fabric picks up the amber light without losing its fine texture. The cobbles continue beneath the performer into the market, giving the elaborate costume room to become part of a lively setting rather than an isolated portrait.
