Striped badlands rise above the green gullies
Published · Updated
Striped badlands rise in rounded ridges whose red, orange and cream layers continue across steep fluted slopes. Darker bands break the warm surfaces into distinct levels, while erosion grooves give each ridge a rougher texture. The nearest formation leads diagonally toward larger shapes farther across the landscape.
Green vegetation fills narrow gullies between the bare slopes, following a pale winding wash through the lower ground. After-rain light catches damp patches and deepens the shadows within the cuts. Distant blue hills and a soft sky leave room around the layered formations, balancing their strong color with the quieter details that explain the scale of the terrain.
