A terrier reflection brings a small pause to the bright mudroom. The shaggy dog stands close to a tall mirror, with its nose almost meeting the reflected muzzle. Four paws rest on a hexagonal floor as the animal studies the familiar shape in front of it. Blue cupboards rise around the quiet encounter.

The mirror’s warm wooden frame gives the reflection a firm boundary. Cream and tan fur catches light along the dog’s back, while the reflected face reveals its dark eyes and soft whiskers. The low viewpoint keeps the real body and mirrored front together, making the simple moment easy to follow without another person in the room.

An orange bench cushion adds warmth between the tall paneled cabinets. Boots wait underneath, and ferns soften the corner beside a divided-light garden door. Sunlight reaches across the blue-gray tiles in irregular patches, with the floor pattern continuing toward the entrance. These ordinary details give the room a lived-in scale around the dog’s moment of curiosity and the surprising companion inside the glass.
