The Bamboo Crown Lounge

Published · Updated

Immense bundles of golden bamboo branch outward above this open tropical lounge, carrying a high thatched roof through a web of curved arches and slender braces. Dark bindings gather the poles at their joints, while their natural nodes and varied tones make the structure richly textured. The columns meet low stone bases, and a charcoal wall shelters one side of the room. Beyond the open edge, green hills rise through soft morning mist.

Curved wooden sofas with thick cream cushions gather around broad timber tables, keeping the seating low beneath the extraordinary canopy. Woven pendant shades glow gently between the arches, and large clay pots hold glossy leaves near the terrace. The smooth stone floor catches diffuse light from outside, while the dark wood surfaces show deep grain and irregular edges. The photograph offers a generous view of the room's construction and its comfortable furnishings together. Warm bamboo, pale linen and the fresh landscape give the interior a relaxed sense of shelter after rain.
