A bamboo roof opens like a pair of wings
Published · Updated
A bamboo roof rises in sweeping curves above a quiet garden pavilion. Slender ribs and diagonal braces support pale fabric panels, with visible joints and bundled supports connecting the broad spans to stone footings. The wing-like outline gives the open structure a light appearance despite its large scale.
Plain timber tables and woven baskets sit beneath the roof, providing a simple measure of its height. Morning sun enters from the sides and draws curved shadows across the red-brick floor. Palms, wet lawn and low hills remain visible beyond the pavilion, allowing the architecture to frame the garden while keeping its materials and construction in view.
