The Bronze Branch Screen and Its Shadow

Published · Updated

A great branching tree fills the far wall of this quiet courtyard, but its trunk and twigs are made from dark, interlaced metal. Thick strands divide into finer branches, then gather into a dense rectangular mesh along the outer edges. Warm afternoon light touches the bronze and sends a second, lighter tree across the limestone behind it. The small gap between sculpture and wall gives the work depth and lets its intricate shadow remain visible.

A shallow basin stretches below the screen, repeating the trunk in dark water. A few fallen leaves interrupt the reflection, while a simple wooden bench faces the installation from the paved court. The surrounding stone carries pale gold tones, small pits and worn edges. Autumn branches reach into the clear blue sky above the open walls. With no people in the space, the photograph centers on the relationship between crafted metal, sunlight and reflection. Its details reward a closer look, from the irregular woven branches to the faint ripples along the basin’s edge.
