The Dachshund Meets Its Wicker Double
Published · Updated
A black-and-tan dachshund pauses at a shop threshold, nose almost touching its woven double. The basket beside it has the same long body and short legs, with a rounded wicker muzzle and broad stitched leather ears. Folded linen fills the open compartment along its back, making the playful shape useful as well as charming.
The real dog stands on rain-dark paving, its soft ears falling beside an alert face. Fine fur, smooth leather and tightly woven cane meet within a small, quiet moment of curiosity. The basket's honey colour carries into the shop behind it, where round trays and handled baskets hang against deep green walls.
A shaded lamp warms the interior, illuminating stacked wicker cradles, shelves and dried flowers. Outside, golden leaves lie in the shallow reflections on the old stone lane, and pale cottages continue into the distance. The open timber door connects the cosy shop with the cool autumn street.
