The House Draped in Pastel Cloth
Published · Updated
Long panels of pale cloth transform the front of a stone townhouse. Blush pink, apricot, ivory and soft yellow fabric falls from the roofline, gathering into loose swags around the windows. The material remains thin enough for the uneven masonry to show through. A blue green front door anchors the centre of the facade, framed by tied drapes that leave the entrance clear.
The installation follows the existing building rather than concealing its shape. Slate roof tiles, two dormer windows, stone surrounds and dark window frames remain visible. Small folds and overlapping layers give the cloth different depths of colour. Warm afternoon light grazes the surface and casts gentle shadows behind the hanging panels.
Across the street, damp paving catches a faint reflection of the pastel colours. Fallen leaves gather along the kerb, while the neighbouring stone walls provide a quiet setting for the unusual display. The full house is visible from roof to doorstep.
