Rainbow Thread Crosses the Stone Hall

Published · Updated

Fine coloured threads sweep through an empty stone hall, crossing in broad translucent layers. Ruby and violet strands descend from a high timber rail towards the opposite wall, while a warmer band of gold and orange opens beyond them. The eye can follow individual fibres close to the camera and still see the masonry through the overlapping colours.

Rows of small metal eyelets secure the installation to wooden supports. These practical details give the delicate sculpture a clear connection to the room around it. Rough limestone walls, exposed roof trusses and uneven flagstones provide a weighty setting for the lightness of the thread. A tall window at the far end brings soft daylight into the hall.

The changing layers create the impression of a ribbon turning through space without hiding the fibres that form it. Warm light touches the nearest strands and spills across the worn floor, leaving deeper shadows under the timber roof. The photograph brings colour and old construction together in a quiet installation whose shape is made from many small, visible lines.
