The puppet maker tests a new character
Published · Updated
A puppet maker tests a new character at a long workbench, watching its movements with an amused smile. The pale blue marionette has an angular head, taped foam seams and jointed wooden arms. Large hands and oversized boots give the unfinished figure a comic outline beneath its small mustard waistcoat.
Strings rise toward a simple wooden control, while one careful hand steadies the puppet’s wrist. Fabric scraps, spools and foam offcuts surround the working space, showing how the character is taking shape. Sunlight from a large window brings warmth to the ochre room, with red foliage outside adding another layer of seasonal color.
