The Round Portal Above the Terracotta Terrace

Published · Updated

A thick round opening frames a sunlit terrace above the sea. Warm terracotta plaster surrounds the view, its rough mineral surface catching light along the inner edge. Beyond the opening, broad crescent steps curve toward a circular turquoise pool. Small round planting wells interrupt the steps, holding soft silver foliage that echoes the pale leaves of the nearby olive trees. The repeated curves give the terrace a clear rhythm from the foreground threshold to the low boundary wall.

Morning light falls across the pink stone paving and leaves a deep curved shadow inside the passage. The still pool adds a cool band of color beside the warmer walls and steps. Beyond it, a rocky headland reaches into a calm blue bay beneath an open sky. The planting stays low enough to preserve the sea view, while the raised edges and broad surfaces make the different levels easy to follow. With no furniture or visitors, the scene concentrates on the generous geometry, textured materials and quiet meeting of garden and coast.
