The Stair behind Woven Steel
Published · Updated
A broad staircase curves upward through a tall riverside hall, its dark timber treads framed by a sweeping band of charcoal steel. Beside it, many slender cables cross into a transparent woven enclosure. Their small floor fittings follow the curve of the stair, making the construction visible from the first step to the high landing. The cables reveal a quiet seating corner within the open space underneath.
Large industrial windows fill the left wall and look out across a river toward an iron bridge and autumn trees. Cool daylight catches the edges of the treads and makes soft reflections on the grey stone floor. A warm wall lamp glows behind the cable screen, balancing the pale brick walls and timber ceiling. An empty chair, a small table and a simple rug give the enclosed corner a human scale. The photograph is built around the contrast between the heavy steel ribbon and the fine woven lines, with both materials clearly grounded in the room.
