Paper Lace Falls through the Rose Stairwell

Published · Updated

Long sheets of ivory paper descend from a bright roof lantern into the center of a tall stairwell. Their cut edges form repeated scallops and fine branching shapes, with open gaps that reveal the next layer behind. The overlapping sheets create a delicate cascade, light enough to suggest movement yet held together by continuous vertical spines. Small curls along the edges and soft shadows across the paper make its thickness visible.

A curving stone staircase surrounds the installation, with dark slender railings following the walls. Dusty rose plaster gives the white paper a warm background, while an upper window brings in clear autumn daylight and a glimpse of golden leaves. The lowest tips stop above the empty landing, allowing the entire length of the work to be seen. There are no visitors or furnishings to interrupt the view. The photograph follows the paper upward from its pointed ends to the glowing skylight, emphasizing both the intimate cut details and the height of the surrounding room.
