The timber slide curls toward the lake
Published · Updated
The timber slide curls through the pine trees before reaching a broad low landing. A boy sits inside the final curve with his feet forward, smiling toward his father. His father bends slightly nearby with open hands, ready to greet him at the end. The mustard jacket and rust trousers stand out against the pale wood and dark play surface.
The spiral channel wraps around a substantial central support. High continuous sides follow the sweeping curve, with metal brackets and bolts visible along the structure. Stairs and railings rise behind it toward the upper platform. The clear construction makes the large sculptural form feel like a real place for an ordinary playground adventure.
Between the tree trunks, a still blue lake opens toward misty forested hills. Orange ferns and low autumn plants edge the landing area. Warm morning light catches the wood grain and the boy’s face, while the deeper forest remains cool. The photograph gives the unusual slide plenty of room, keeping the family’s small shared smile at the heart of the scene.
