The Violet Shag and Amber Globe Lounge

Published · Updated

Deep violet shag covers the curved seating in this coastal lounge. Long wool fibres follow rounded backs and generous arms, giving the furniture a soft, sculptural character. The horseshoe arrangement gathers around dark circular tables, with smaller matching seats nearby. Its low profile leaves the broad seaside window fully visible.

Above the main group, a chandelier clusters many amber glass globes around warm bulbs. The clear suspension rods and ceiling fitting explain its weight, while light passing through the glass creates subtle patterns overhead. A hanging curtain of dark translucent discs screens an adjoining alcove. These smaller repeated shapes add another layer of texture without enclosing the room completely.

Outside, twilight settles over a calm sea and a rain-bright garden terrace. The blue view balances the warm amber light and the rich purple upholstery. Pale walls, a dark timber floor and a quiet rug keep the colour concentrated in the furnishings. Ceramic bowls and a small vase provide simple details at table height. The interior brings together unusual textile depth and luminous glass, with both materials remaining easy to appreciate at the scale of the whole room.
