Tiddlywinks holds the attention of two sisters beside a tall garden window. The younger girl presses a larger blue disc against a small yellow wink on the felt mat. Her sister leans forward from the other side of the table, smiling as she waits for the next flick. A small blue pot stands at the center of the scattered colored pieces.

The younger sister wears a cream floral pinafore with a dark patch pocket over a pale ribbed top. Sage tights and flat shoes complete her outfit. Her older sister wears a navy blouse with a white rounded collar, a rust corduroy skirt and plum tights. Their different fabrics echo the many patterns around the room without obscuring the simple game.

The low wooden table sits firmly on a richly patterned rug. Behind it, deep cushions fill the white bay seat between green shutters. Flowers, ferns and botanical wallpaper continue the garden feeling indoors. Outside the broad panes, golden leaves frame a distant strip of blue water. The warm light reaches both faces and the tabletop, joining the small action to the spacious room.
