Two Tiny Costumes at the Pumpkin Fair
Published · Updated
Two guinea pigs meet over a fresh lettuce leaf in the middle of a greenhouse harvest display. The chestnut-and-white animal wears a bright orange felt pumpkin cape with black cutout features and green leaves. Its grey-and-white companion has a soft black spider costume, complete with white ring eyes and narrow felt legs. Their uncovered faces, shining eyes and fine whiskers give the scene its gentle character.
The pair sit on a broad wooden crate covered with loose golden straw. Real orange and blue-grey pumpkins rise behind them, their dusty skins and thick stalks setting off the small handmade costumes. Baskets and tubs of apples, pots of autumn flowers and hanging vine leaves fill the greenhouse with colour. Through an open green-framed door, a leaf-strewn garden extends into the distance. Soft daylight picks out the animals' fur, the felt edges and the grain of the rough wooden boards. This playful seasonal photograph is free to reuse for personal projects and commercial work.
