Whisper dishes curve through the rain plaza

Published · Updated

Whisper dishes rise above an empty plaza beneath a deep blue evening sky. The nearest pale bowl tilts outward from a dark steel support, with a small circular hoop held in front by thin struts. Droplets cover its broad concave surface. A smaller teal dish appears farther along the curve, bringing a second cool color into the warm timber setting.

Cedar fins form a continuous wall behind the bowls. Their changing heights create a gentle dip between the two large shapes. Small amber lights shine upward through the narrow gaps, revealing the grain and edges of the wood. Bolted brackets and a broad base keep the nearest support visibly connected to the ground.

Wet paving follows the same curve through the foreground. Long amber reflections break across the stone joints and small puddles, while blue sky reflects in the darker areas. Grasses soften the edge of the installation. Brick walls, glass balconies and lit windows rise behind the trees. The tall framing leaves room for the foreground dish and the city above it, making the sculpture feel part of a real public space after rain.
