Wool Working Brings Four Friends Together
Published · Updated
Wool working brings four friends into a shared rhythm around a long wooden table. A broad loop of ochre wool cloth runs between them, gathered into heavy folds beneath their hands. Two people sit on each side, leaving the shape of the fabric and the direction of the work easy to read from the end of the table.
Their patterned knitwear adds cobalt, raspberry, mustard and teal against the softer hillside colors. Each person holds a separate section, with the fabric linking their actions across the planks. A plain stone shed and open grass frame the scene beneath clearing clouds. Slanting light brings out damp fibers, wood grain and the lively expressions exchanged during the work.
