A flying fish glides above the waves
Published · Updated
A flying fish glides just above a cobalt wave with its broad pectoral fins spread like delicate fans. Fine rays show through the translucent membranes, while the slim blue-silver body remains sharply outlined against the water. Smaller rear fins and a long forked tail complete the unusual shape.
A few droplets hang behind the fish above the passing wave crest. Sunlight reaches through the fins and catches metallic highlights on the body, while the near water shifts toward turquoise. The low sea-level viewpoint gives the brief glide a clear place between wave and sky, retaining both the animal’s small scale and the openness of the surrounding ocean.
