A living cactus fence borders the garden path
Published · Updated
A cactus fence borders the sandy path in a warm walled garden. Closely spaced ribbed green stems rise to different heights, with pale spines arranged in small groups along each ridge. A few upright branches reach away from the main columns and add variety to the living boundary.
The row leads toward an open doorway in an ochre wall, where leafy planting is visible beyond. Long thin shadows fall across the path beside scattered pebbles and dry grasses at the cactus bases. A plain terracotta pot sits near the entrance. Late-afternoon sunlight catches the spine tips and the soft pale bloom on the stems, emphasizing their vertical rhythm within the narrow garden passage.
