Windcatcher towers rise above the clay rooftops
Published · Updated
Windcatcher towers rise above the clay rooftops in a sequence of tall rectangular forms. Narrow ventilation openings divide the nearest tower into deep vertical slots, with thin masonry fins between them. Small geometric recesses and projecting timber ties add detail beneath the flat upper cap.
Low roof vaults and plain parapets overlap in the foreground, with an empty recessed courtyard visible among their curves. Fine cracks and weathering soften the ochre plaster, while low sunlight makes the open slots appear darker and deeper. The elevated view follows the structures into dusty distance, showing a varied roofscape built from repeated practical forms and warm earthen materials.
