A mushroom rock casts a long desert shadow
Published · Updated
A mushroom rock casts a long desert shadow beneath its broad irregular cap. The pale chalk surface is pitted and uneven, with an undercut stem curving into a wider foot at ground level. Warm ivory light touches one face while the shaded side holds a cooler lavender tone.
Small pieces of chalk and fine sand surround the base, extending into open ground with a few distant white formations. The long tapering shadow leads toward the foreground, while a deepening blue sky leaves the upper shape clearly outlined. The low wide view keeps the complete rock visible and gives its sculpted form room within the otherwise spare desert landscape.
