A raccoon peeks from the rainy storm drain
Published · Updated
A raccoon peeks from a roomy storm-drain recess with its small forepaws resting on the concrete lip. Pale-edged ears and a black eye mask frame the pointed nose, while damp whiskers catch a little light. Part of the gray body and striped tail remains visible within the sheltered opening.
Wet asphalt reflects a warm streetlight beside scattered copper leaves. A brick wall, a small tuft of curbside grass and cooler window light farther away give the quiet alley depth. The pavement-level view turns an ordinary urban corner into a close wildlife encounter, with the alert face clearly visible against the darker space behind it.
