A shoebill lifts above the marsh grass
Published · Updated
A shoebill lifts above the marsh grass with its broad gray wings raised in a strong upward stroke. Long dark feathers spread along the outer edges, while the heavy tan bill points ahead beneath a pale eye. Its neck stays drawn back toward the body, and two slender legs trail behind.
Tawny marsh grass fills the lower scene, with a few fine droplets hanging near the takeoff space. Soft morning light catches the layered feathers and the rough bill surface against a pale clouded sky. Distant vegetation fades into cool haze, giving the large bird room above the wetland and keeping the movement connected to its open surroundings.
