A theremin melody curves through the music room
Published · Updated
A theremin melody creates a quiet exchange between two friends in a curved music room. The standing player keeps one hand near the tall metal antenna and the other above the horizontal loop. His hands hover freely around the wooden cabinet. He glances toward the seated listener with an amused expression, and she looks back with a small, attentive smile.
Closely spaced timber slats follow the walls and wrap a broad column. Blue and amber glass spheres hang from slender supports overhead, repeating the room’s rounded shapes on a much smaller scale. A large circular window holds the cool blue of a rainy evening. Dark leaves outside soften the contrast between the glass and the warm interior.
The cream patterned knit shirt and rust trousers echo the wood and amber light. A black dress and wine-colored shoes sit against the mustard chair. The instrument’s tripod, trailing cable and nearby floor speaker make the setup practical. Soft lamps bring out natural skin, polished wood and the thick texture of the rug beneath their feet.
