A glass roundel wall lights the breakfast table
Published · Updated
A glass roundel wall curves around two friends sharing breakfast in a sunlit garden room. The man passes a bread basket across the wooden table, and the woman takes its near edge while meeting his smile. Their attention stays with each other and the small exchange. Her white dress carries large colored circles that echo, without matching exactly, the varied pieces of glass above them.
Turquoise, green, amber and clear roundels sit at different depths in the thick earthen plaster. Their rippled surfaces soften the view through the wall and scatter colored light across the tabletop and stone floor. A larger circular opening frames a little planting outside, while tall glazed doors at the left bring the garden close to the room.
Plain ceramic cups, a loaf and a small orange occupy the table without crowding the shared action. Rough plaster, worn chair rails and the warm grain of the wood give the space a tactile character. Sunlight travels through both the clear doorway and the colored glass, joining the people, furniture and planting in one relaxed morning scene.
